Our
Story
BlaBlaCar
We meet in the car: we each reserved the same car for a ride to Venice. Adriana was going to see the city for the first time and Filippo was going to see his family for the Christmas holiday. Almost nine hours in the car together: as a first date, not bad!.
Missions: possible
We meet to see each other more often as an excuse to accomplish some “impossible” missions even though, in reality, they were easily possible . . . like cooking and eating dinner together, going to the movies or finding bars that we only knew the names of.
Expropiación petrolera
Still just friends--until finally one night in March, happy and tipsy and without even really thinking about it--we finally kissed for the first time: the Austrian folk music’s rhythm (and the general cigarette smoke) made for an ambience of romance--almost like "Casablanca".
First summer adventures
We book an airbnb in Rijeka, Croatia. The description reads “just a few steps from the sea.” Apparently Croatian steps are a bit different from the rest of the world’s steps. Ours was the last house at the top of the hill and at least a half hour walk from the “beach.” But we were young and in love with our heads in the clouds. So much so, in fact, that we even missed our bus from Trieste to get back to Vienna. :/.
VeganChristmas
So, this year what should we do for Christmas? It’s too early to bring the Mexican girlfriend to meet family in Italy. But he couldn’t just leave her alone in Vienna . . . we ultimately decide to try a vegan restaurant that someone had recommended--since by that time both of us don’t eat meat anymore. Vegan Christmas . . . a bit odd.
Back to Venice
We return to Venice just over a year later. By train this time. We stay at Filippo’s cousin Elena’s fabulous B&B Fujiama. We get lost in the streets of Venice, we visit an old artisan who makes masks, we have a spritz and a pizza with a dear friend visiting from the United States.
Merry xmas!.
Always Venice for Christmas :). This time, however, with all the Rezzadore Family. During the Christmas holiday in Italy, Adriana’s sister Magda, who is on a trip in Europe, comes too. And then there are other friends and a bit of a “festa.” Actually...“fiesta”!
...Ikea puts our love to test
What furniture to get? What color? How much to spend? How to get it all home?...What is necessary and what isn’t? These and many other questions had to be resolved. But the hardest test was putting it together! Filippo risked having to sleep on the couch--before they even had a couch!
Viva México!
After so much Europe, the moment arrived to go to the other side of the ocean. We’re off to Mexico! The Hernandez-Flores Family is a small family of more than 20 aunts and uncles and cousins. It will take a little while for Filippo to meet everyone. In the meantime, we went to the gorgeous Mayan Riviera for a few days at the seaside . .
Die Italienreise
Obviously, Venice again :). Here we meet up with Uncle Ricardo Flores and his wife, whom we had already seen in Mexico. Together we also stayed in Florence for two days, one of the cities that Adriana absolutely had to see. Art and fantastic food. We slept in a hostel: we felt a bit younger.
Die Grieklandreise
On October 12, Adriana and Filippo travel for a wedding. It’s in Greece, on the beautiful island of Rhodes, a city with a perfectly conserved medieval town. And a little heat, sun, and seaside before taking on the Vienna winter. The atmosphere is marvelous, and the day of the wedding is, apparently, inspiring…
"It´s not an engagement ring!"
The next evening, on the seashore, under the light of the moon...like nothing else, it was too perfect a moment not to give a ring: “It’s a gift to celebrate our love...but it’s not an engagement ring, ok!” said Filippo...
“Ok, it´s an engagement ring!”
At a romantic dinner at the seaside, before heading back to Vienna: Cupid strikes even Filippo...he changes his mind! No official proposal but a conscious understanding full of love. The where? Come on, Venice naturally! The when wasn’t clear yet…
The news
The moment comes to share the news with the Italian side of the family: but it’s a bit too banal of a discussion (or just too difficult). Why not do something more creative? At the end of the video, everyone cried tears of joy, including us! The video works really well to let our friends know, too, with a bit of humor
